These Triple Chocolate Snickerdoodle Donuts are a perfect treat any time of day!  A dreamy combination of part breakfast treat, part cookie. A cocoa and cinnamon infused donut studded with chocolate chips, dusted in cinnamon sugar and then drizzled with dark chocolate.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tarter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Cinnamon Sugar

  • 4 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Dark Chocolate Glaze

  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream



  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, sugar baking powder, cream of tartar, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • In bowl of an electric mixer, combine buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and melted butter. Slowly add flour mixture and mix until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Spray donut pan with cooking spray and fill with batter just to top of center post.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until set. Let cool in pan for one minute before removing to wire rack to cool completely.

Cinnamon Sugar

  • In a small bowl, whisk together cinnamon and sugar.
  • Brush top and side of each donut with melted butter and then dip into cinnamon sugar mixture.

Dark Chocolate Glaze

  • In a small bowl, combine chocolate chips and whipping cream and microwave for one minute. Stir until completely melted.
  • Drizzle onto tops of donuts.


To fill donut pan easily, I prefer to spoon the batter into a large plastic storage bag and snip one end to act as a large pastry bag.
