hello stitchfix

i’ve had requests for photos of my last stitchfix box so of course on the day i decide to share them, it’s an overcast and dismal day.  so forgive the light and use of iphone photos but that’s what happening for today.

stitchfix is an amazing service that will send you a box of clothing items + accessories to your doorstep whenever you schedule a “fix.”  prior to sending you the box, you fill out a questionnaire regarding what you like to wear, what you wear most often, measurements, etc.  i can honestly say, half the items i’ve received in the three boxes i would’ve never selected for myself but i fall in love with them after putting them on.

the cardigan i’m wearing today i received in my first box.  now i think i own more than my fair share of cardigans, but loved the dressier look of this one and how it just makes me feel a little more pulled together.  i’ve dressed it up for a date night but today paired it with a simple v-neck tee (which i also think i own in at least five colors) and called it a day.

on to the items for the box i received at the beginning of the month…  this grey sweater is just stunning in person.  wishing the photos could do it justice.  it’s also something i never would’ve reached for as it’s a tunic sweater.  my box also came with a nicer pair of black leggings which i don’t think i’ve worn since seventh grade.  (mom – remember that pink sailor collar tunic shirt with the black leggings i had in seventh grade?  or were they stirrup pants?  i digress.)  

i raised an eye brow – or both – when i pulled them both out of the box but upon trying them on, they immediately went into the keep pile.  the sweater makes me look leaner than i am and i received many compliments when i wore the outfit the first time.

each item in a stitchfix box has a tag that describes the item on one side and has photos of it styled two different ways on the reverse.  hello!  all clothing manufacturers should do this.  it makes putting an outfit together so much easier.  another reason i love this service is that you get three days to try everything on and then send everything back postage paid.  basically you’re able to try everything on with pieces you already have in your closet to see how they’d work.  you’re not standing in a dressing room wondering if you have something that will coordinate with an item.  or better yet for me, there aren’t little ones telling you they’re bored, touching who knows what and rush to try things on.  i tried everything on in this box after 11p one night.  a time that worked for me while everyone else was sleeping.

for the record, this is another blouse i wouldn’t have purchased or let alone given a second look at i just seen it hanging on a rack in a store.  instead, it’s now hanging in my closet.

love the collar on this shirt.  a perfect layering piece now and a stand alone piece as the weather gets warmer eventually.

last but not least, these gorgeous earrings.  ironically, i had borrowed a pair that are quite similar to these only in gold from my sister-in-law for andy’s holiday party in december.  i’m definitely more of a silver girl and love that these can make an outfit easily.

so there you have it.  my newest can’t-live-without-it service that’s like having my own personal stylist.  i only wish i had discovered it sooner!  you know it’s awesome when my husband wishes they had it for men.

edited to add : my hangers?  handiwork from both of andy’s grandmothers.  i think they’re all crocheted but we have them in a rainbow of colors and patterns.  we fight over them.  they’re awesome as they don’t leave dents in my clothing, especially my much loved cardigans.  they’re also perfect for more delicate items that would normally tend to slide off our typical hangers.
