another monday, another menu. the girl is a bit under the weather with a cold, so i’m not sure when i’m going to get to the store this week which throws a bit of a wrench into my normal menu planning, but a good chance to be creative with what i have on hand. for the past two weeks my grocery bill has been $20 or less – quite the feat! something i definitely can credit to the grocery game and planning my menu ahead.
here’s what this week’s menu is looking like :
monday – lemon basil pork chops. i have everything on hand and pork chops in the freezer that need to be used.
tuesday – sweet mustard roast. a new one to try from the crockpot queen. and again, everything already on hand!
wednesday – leftovers.
thursday – corn chowder. andy had requested soup this week and i haven’t had a chance to make this again lately. i’m really bad about making things again as i’m always wanting to try something new.
friday – pizza. maybe i’ll make homemade this week?
last week’s recipe reviews :
barack obama’s chili. i definitely wouldn’t call this chili. more like a chili style stir fry? with a little salt and some shredded cheese on top it was good. just not very chili like. the girl enjoyed it as well and ate two bowls full the first night.
french dip sandwiches. a definite winner. even with me, and that says a lot as i don’t enjoy soggy food. we tried them with both cheddar and with swiss and even though i don’t normally like swiss cheese, the stronger cheese worked really well.
pork mostaccioli. this makes a LOT. i would’ve never thought to put pork with pasta, but this seemed to work well and everyone enjoyed it. i’m going to have to make a batch of this to put in the freezer for after the baby comes.
