The classic flavors of blue cheese and walnut speckle this savory scone making it anything but ordinary. These Blue Cheese Walnut Scones are transformed into something special by a crown of honeycomb and a drizzle of honey – the perfect accompaniment to your next meal.
The holidays always have me thinking of new and creative dishes to share with friends and family. Something special and out of the ordinary. These Blue Cheese Walnut Scones are just that. By themselves they’re the perfect savory side to almost any meal. But crown them with a slice of honeycomb and a drizzle of honey and, well friends, it’s a whole new level of special.
I am a lover of all things cheese and especially love the bolder varieties like blue cheese and gorgonzola. In fact, these scones were inspired by a salad that I enjoy topped with walnuts, blue cheese and a honey vinegarette. In true comfort food fashion, I’ve removed leafy greens from the equation and instead used these flavors to create a new savory scone. Salty, melty, cheesy goodness in bread form. Perfection.
Wait, then you top said scones with honey and a slice of honeycomb and THEN it’s perfection. Have you ever tried honeycomb? It simply melts in your mouth when heated by these just from the oven scones. I chose a jar of Don Victor honey to use for this recipe as it includes honeycomb in the jar, just waiting to be put to use. You can find this product in your local Walmart store in the Hispanic aisle.
These scones are absolutely amazing on their won – I may have eaten one or two as soon as they came out of the oven! – but they also make a great addition to any meal. Say sianara to the typical grilled cheese and instead for reach for one of these Blue Cheese Walnut Scones to co-star alongside your tomato soup!
Interested in other Don Victor products? They also have a great olive oil a well as three whipped honeys that are just begging to be used – Caramel, Cinnamon and Cocoa.
