In case I haven’t mentioned it this week, I’m in love with this city and the amazing opportunities that have come my way in just the two short months we’ve been here. If Andy decides to get a job elsewhere at the end of this fellowship adventure, he’s going to have to go by himself.
With that being said, last night I enjoyed an adult evening out with Andy’s sister at the pre-opening party of the new Nordstrom Rack that opens at Crocker Park tomorrow. I’ll admit I felt pretty cool to snag an invite to a store that hasn’t even opened to the public yet.
As soon as we walked into the store, I spied a bag that was calling my name. Unfortunately, I don’t have extra cash calling my name so I had to leave it for someone else to enjoy.
Former interior designer me loved how they displayed their bags. Instead of being on a shelf and you having to dig through everything to hopefully find something you liked, every bag was hung on it’s own hanger on a rack. LOVE.
Although I wasn’t able to get a new bag, I did snag a new wallet. The wallet that I have I bought when I lived in Missouri and is close to meeting it’s maker as the closure is pulling away from the actual wallet. I really wanted to be fun and go with the green but the sensible side of me chose the black.
I love shopping with my sister-in-law as she always picks out things I’d never give a second glance. Case in point? This sweater. On the hanger, eh. On? Looked amazing.
I’ll be honest here and say that I have large feet. LARGE feet. Granted, I am 6′ so I’ve come to terms that I might look a little odd with smaller feet, but buying shoes for myself is hard and usually no fun at all. I was super impressed by the amount of shoes in my size that they had in their store. Every box you see in this shot was a size 11 – told you I had big feet! – except for the section closest to the camera. They even had 11-1/2s! And 12s!
I also really enjoyed these little signs posted randomly throughout the store as a warning to shoplifters. Clever.
And I’ve decided that there’s only one way to go shopping. Sans children is a given, but strolling through a store with caterers offering yummy snacks and even my new favorite Great Lakes brew? There are no words.
Those grilled cheese triangles served with a shot of tomato soup were absolutely divine! There were also cheeseburger sliders, cupcakes and sparkling wine that caught my eye.
After making a lap around the store, we headed for the fitting room. Again, something I’m never able to do if I have a member of the menagerie with me. Last night? An awesome experience as the employees were beyond helpful and friendly and kept things moving.
Somehow I also scored a dressing room that probably as large as my home office. Nice!
Unfortunately, nothing that I tried particularly caught my eye, but I did leave purchasing my sensible black wallet and having had a great evening out exploring another new area of the city.
