these three make up the birthday trifecta in our house. all three have birthdays within a month of one another. i'm blaming the abundance of birthday cake for the extra pounds i seem to be carrying. we celebrated andy's birthday this weekend. his cake was the pioneer woman's best chocolate sheet cake. because the four of us really needed a ginormous cake. luckily i sent a third of it home with the neighbor boy later in the evening.
the hilarious part of this picture and the others in the sequence of blowing out he birthday candles is L's face. she's thinking the other two are absolutely crazy. and the majority of the time, i'd agree with her.
a shout out to my father-in-law for this awesome gift. and not only because i get to enjoy it as well. at the girls' birthday party, he overheard andy chatting with our neighbor about a restaurant he really enjoys that we have yet to get to. he remembered this conversation and called them to order a gift card for andy's birthday. i can imagine a girl doing this, but a guy? so impressed. and i can't wait for our next date night to use it!
nana made several new surgery caps for the birthday guy. i think she'll have to make one for the dress up bin as well as C just thought they were the greatest thing ever.
and C loved seeing the green stuff as well. when you get older, that's what you get. she doesn't know what to use it for but simply loves hoarding it to feed her piggy. if she sees spare change around the house she'll call dibs on it. this money was earrmarked for some dress pants and reshafting andy's golf clubs.
surgical hat models. so hard to get all three of them in a photo together when L was in her high chair. and hate that they were sitting in front of the patio door with snow in the background. did i mention we got an inch of it on friday?
but wait! there was one more surprise gift. i had replenished andy's beer supply as my gift to him but wanted to give him something from the girls as well. this gift cost absolutely nothing as everything was already on hand and i love it more than any gift i could've purchased.
a closer look. i took one of C's latest watercolor masterpieces and cut the girls' handprints from it.. (i'm still a bit shocked that she went along with this idea.) i mounted the handprints on a piece of paper from my stash and labeled each of them with the girls' names and ages and added the date at the bottom. and it's already on the wall. yet another gift i get to enjoy. although he's already claimed it for his someday office.
daddy and L. she wasn't quite sure what to make of the entire birthday festivities – especially after doing it three times in the past month.
and now we wait for the next birthday, which fortunately does not involve cake. thomas will celebrate with a treat or two. but no cake.
