I dare you to figure out a way to add more chocolate to this easy and indulgent Death By Chocolate Poke Cake! A chocolate fudge cake mix is studded with dark chocolate chips before then being flooded with chocolate fudge pudding. Add dark chocolate ganache, chocolate whipped topping, and two types of chocolate cookies and you’ve got the perfect dessert for Halloween or any other day of the year!

When it comes to desserts, I’d like to think I’m an equal opportunity enjoyer, but let’s face it. I’m a certifiable chocoholic. The more the better, especially dark chocolate which happens to be my absolute favorite. With Halloween just around the corner, I figured now would be the perfect time to create the ultimate Death by Chocolate Poke Cake. Fellow chocoholics, rejoice!

I dare you to figure out a way to add more chocolate to this cake! A chocolate fudge cake mix is studded with dark chocolate chips before then being flooded with chocolate fudge pudding once coming out of the oven. After the cake has cooled, it’s spread with a dark chocolate ganache and chocolate whipped topping before being sprinkled with crushed Oreos. And then just to tie the “death by chocolate” theme into the upcoming Halloween holiday, Dark Chocolate Milano cookies are transformed into tombstones to top each cake slice.

That chocolate whipped topping I mentioned? An easy store bought product transformation! By simply stirring in baking cocoa, powdered sugar and chocolate extract, I had the perfect addition to my seriously chocolate cake. Rodelle Baking Cocoa has been a staple in my pantry since I discovered it while roaming the aisles of Costco last year. It contains one of the highest levels of cocoa butter of any cocoa powder on the market which gives it it’s superior chocolate flavor.

But the Chocolate Extract? A new to me product that I was thrilled to stumble across. It’s like something directly out of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Chocolate extract, people! Cocoa beans are distilled in a solution of water and alcohol. I mean, how can you go wrong?

Think you can handle all this chocolate? Our family definitely can! I’m not sure if I should mention we’ve polished two of these cakes off in the last seven days or not? Oops? Regardless, it’s gotten the seal of approval from everyone that’s tried it! Perfect as a Halloween treat or forego the Milano cookies and it’s a decadent and indulgent dessert perfect any day of the year. That makes this chocoholic very happy indeed!
