Do you have a go to dessert recipe? You know, one you love to make because it’s quick, easy and you always have the ingredients on hand? This Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie happens to be mine.
That’s both a good and a bad thing. Good, because I can make it any day when the mood strikes and we’re looking for a quick treat. Not so good, as I might tend to make it a bit more than I should. Oops?
Sure, whipping up a traditional batch of cookies is fine and well, although I will admit that I think making cookies is a bit of a high maintenance chore with the constant portioning out of dough and in and out of the oven business. When something as amazing as this Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie happens to come together in just one dish, bigger is definitely better!
All of the usual suspect cookie ingredients are found in this Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie and no doubt you likely already have on hand. I love that everything is simply stirred together in a cast iron skillet before being put in the oven.
Less dishes equals more time to enjoy a piece of this gigantic cookie, right? Especially when it’s served with a scoop of melty ice cream on top. Rich, decadent and absolutely amazing. Just the way I like my dessert!
This Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie is the epitome of chocolatey goodness. Pour yourself a tall glass of milk and cozy up to the most amazing chocolate chip cookie you’ve ever enjoyed.
This skillet cookie recipe was also the inspiration and jumping off point for my Cherry Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Skillet Cookie, Triple Chocolate Peppermint Skillet Cookie and Coconut Caramel Pumpkin Oatmeal Skillet Cookie.
How to Make Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie
[1] In a 10″ iron skillet, add butter.
[2] Over medium-low heat, melt butter.
[3] Add brown sugar, sugar and vanilla.
[4] Stir together to combine and remove from heat. Let cool for 5 minutes.
[5] Add eggs to butter and sugar mixture.
[6] Stir together until completely combined.
[7] Add flour, baking soda, and salt to skillet.
[8] Stir until almost combined.
TIP: Because you’ll still be stirring in the chocolate chips you won’t want to over mix the batter. If you stir until almost combined, you’ll avoid this pitfall.
[9] Add chocolate chips to skillet.
[10] Stir carefully to incorporate.
TIP: If you over stir, the chocolate chips will begin to melt in the batter.
Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees, until beginning to brown, but still soft in the center.
