I thought ordering groceries would be an awesome idea after having our second child. When our third baby arrived I wondered why more delivery services for groceries weren’t available. And then, after the birth of baby number four 11 weeks ago and doing more internet searching about what options might be available instead of taking four children to the grocery store, I still didn’t have any answers.
But then the clouds parted, the angels sang and Door to Door Organics came to the Cleveland metro area. Seriously friends, the fact that I can now get fruits, vegetables and other grocery items delivered direct to my door each week makes me absolutely giddy.

Last week was my first week of trying the service. There are four different sizes of boxes available and I chose to start with the medium mixed box – both fruits and veggies – which they note as being great for a veggie loving family of four. Before your box arrives, you can view the contents of what will be shipping to you online. Not loving something that’s included? Substitute something else! Although I love beets, I didn’t think we’d enjoy them as much as something else so I swapped them out for radishes for my almost daily salad. I swapped three items to make the contents of our box work for us. You’re also able to add additional items from the store to your box, too.

Here’s a peek at what my box looked like:
I was really impressed with how everything was packaged. All packaging is recyclable and all of the contents are well protected. On top were four pluots – a cross between an apricot and a plum – all which were devoured by our seven year old.

The next layer was three zucchini, mushrooms and a couple containers of lettuce mix. The lettuce mix was the item that I added onto my order. Knowing that my order was coming on a Tuesday after the Memorial Day holiday, I loved knowing I’d have all of my fruits and veggies for the week available. Adding the lettuce mix insured that if I didn’t make it on a regular grocery run this week, I’d be covered. Plus, I really like that brand.

Next up? A third lettuce mix, some gorgeous radishes and bananas. Seriously, those radishes were picturesque.

The next layer was three apples, a mango, cucumber and an avocado.
Lastly, a honeydew melon, avocado, carrots, onion and three pears made up the rest of my shipment. Every single piece of produce in my box was in fantastic condition. Likely better than what I typically find on a routine shopping trip.
We’ve been enjoying our produce so much that I’ll likely up to the largest size box to insure that we’re set with fresh produce for the week with no additional trips to the grocery needed.
