Two different cereals, pretzels, crackers and nuts are tossed in a buttery, chipotle maple drizzle before baking. The end result? A Maple Chipotle Snack Mix perfect as a party snack for the holidays, game day or any day!
If there’s one snack I remember being made each and every holiday season while living at home, it was my mom’s snack mix. She’d make a huge bowl this holiday party recipe – HUGE! – and we’d munch on it while playing board games together, take it to get togethers with friends, sneak it between meals… Oops, maybe I shouldn’t have fessed up to that last one. Regardless, delicious party food is a must around here!
As my sister and I got older, my mom began veering away from the recipe on the side of the cereal box and started adding in a few shakes of Tabasco sauce. I loved the heat it added. Nothing out of control, just a bit of kick to keep things interesting. This year, I decided to make my own snack mix version when I spied this Tabasco Chipotle sauce and pair it with something sweet.
A take on the classic sweet heat combination. I found the Tabasco Chipotle sauce on my last trip to Walmart in the aisle right next to the barbecue sauces.
What’s a seasonal sweet flavor? Maple syrup! I figured pairing it with the smoky heat from the chipotle sauce would be the perfect compliment and I was right. This stuff is addictive! As soon as it cooled I had to immediately store it away to keep from nibbling on it. Two different cereals, pretzels, crackers and nuts are tossed in a buttery, chipotle maple drizzle before baking. The end result? The perfect party snack for the holidays, game day or any day!
Now I’m ready to make memories with my own family while munching on this Maple Chipotle snack mix over the holiday. I’m wondering which of my children will be caught sneaking it first?
