A peek inside of our family life and what we’re up to at home, week by week.

If you’re ever looking for a great gift for a child, I can’t recommend magazines enough! I can’t even count how many times Carson has looked through this month’s issue of National Geographic Kids that arrived a week or two ago. One more this week after dropping the big girls off at school, I found him curled up on the sofa looking at it again. We actually keep older issues in a basket in the car between two of the car seats. They are loved so much that they eventually make their way to the recycling bin once they have fallen apart.

This is what I’m likely doing each day after school drop-off. Feeding or snuggling this baby. If I’m lucky, I’ll manage to throw a load of laundry in and make lunches for the middle two. I’ve read 50+ books on my Kindle since Kellyn was born nearly 7 weeks ago. Lots and lots of reading. Less to-do list check marks. Coming to terms with it and realizing that this time is fleeting and so just taking care of what absolutely needs to get done each day and anything else is just icing on the cake.

Camryn’s class has been studying fairy tales. I love this goat she created this week as they were acting out the “Three Billy Goats Gruff.” Apparently she was the middle billy goat. She’s busy preparing for her 1st grade morning of art and music in a couple of weeks where she has a solo. This is the girl that asked for a Hello Kitty karaoke machine for Christmas and made a music video to “Let It Go” for a school project earlier this year. She’s over the moon to be singing a part by herself.

This sweet girl absolutely loves looking out the window and all of the light that comes streaming in each day. It definitely has a calming effect.

And should I mention it snowed this week? Nearly all day Thursday there were flurries flying outside. Of course we deemed it an appropriate day to hit our favorite ice cream shop after school. My first trip with the menagerie of four as the last time we had been was on Camryn’s birthday, two days before Kellyn arrived.
