so yes, it’s technically sunday. and yes, i’m not really doing a menu plan for this week. this week it’s all about turkey, friends. i take my meal planning seriously. even if i didn’t realize until last week that it was mid-november. i have a binder where i have the menu of every thanksgiving meal i’ve served. my ocd tendencies strike again…
here’s what i’ll be serving for thanksgiving 2010 :
maple glazed roast turkey with apple cider gravy. this will be the third year of making this turkey so it’s obvious we enjoy it!
aunt ruthie mashed potatoes. i’ve named them this. they are divine. so good that my sister-in-law requested i make them for her when we went on vacation in september. i declined so that she’d have to come visit for thanksgiving instead. i always intend to make potatoe pancakes with the leftovers but there have never really been any leftovers.
sweet potato casserole. another favorite. love this as i can make it earlier in the day and then serve room temp when the rest of dinner is ready.
citrus cranberry sauce. one of my mom’s favorites when she’s here for thanksgiving. it’s required to have cranberry sauce for thanksgiving, isn’t it?
brussels sprouts with bacon + apple. don’t turn your nose up – these are good! so much so that i made them the first year i started making thanksgiving dinner and they’ve been on the menu ever since!
cornbread + sausage stuffing. i’ve adapted this to cook in the crockpot using this recipe as a guide. it comes out perfectly and frees up valuable oven space. my dream kitchen will have two ovens. *sigh*
green bean casserole. [new recipe] so i’m going to make this from scratch this year ala martha. homemade mushroom sauce, homemade fried onion topping. my mouth is watering…
roasted pears + red onions. [new recipe] i thought we needed another veggie/fruit dish and this one looked appealing.
apple pie. andy requests this each year. i think this is a very non-thanksgiving dessert, but he can have his pie. i’m having his mom make it so that i can focus on everything else. the more thanksgiving-y type things.
upside down pumpkin pie. to. die. for. a 9×13 pan of delicious goodness. i don’t like pumpkin pie, but this is divine.
german chocolate pecan pie. this was a new recipe last year and i was smitten at first bite.
