When I was in the kitchen testing this Slow Cooker Spicy Molasses Sweet Potatoes recipe, my original thought was a different and easy make ahead side dish for Thanksgiving. You know, in case you wanted something in addition to my Make Ahead Sweet Potato Casserole. Note I said in addition to, not to replace. But in this instance, I’m happy to admit I was incorrect. Don’t get me wrong, they’d be a perfect Thanksgiving side dish, but they’re also so much more.

These five ingredient Slow Cooker Spicy Molasses Sweet Potatoes are so incredibly easy. As in, if you can use a knife to chop a few sweet potatoes and then use a spoon to stir all the ingredients together, you’ve got all the proverbial bases covered. I’m all for a classic roasted sweet potato, but why not make things easier by tossing all of the necessary ingredients in a slow cooker, setting a timer and going about your day instead?

Slow Cooker Spicy Molasses Sweet Potatoes
Ingredients
- 4 large sweet potatoes
- 3 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 jalapeño deseeded and sliced
- 2 teaspoons whole grain mustard
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
- Dice sweet potatoes into 1/2" pieces and add to six quart slow cooker.
- Add molasses, vinegar, jalapeño, mustard salt and pepper to potatoes and toss to coat.
- Cook on HIGH for four hours or LOW for eight hours.
