it’s week five of our super summer schedule and i just realized that we really only have two more weeks of summer before the girls start school. ACK! definitely need to put fun into high gear to get the most out of our summer before it’s over. with our recent move – today marks 6 weeks as ohio residents! – i feel like our summer has been even more of a whirlwind than usual.
here’s what we’ll be doing this week :
make something monday : make cookies. i highlighted this recipe as one of my friday finds last week. going to put my two little sous chefs to work to help me fill our neglected cookie jar.
take a trip tuesday : playdate. the girls’ school has been awesome about having other parents contact us prior to the actual school year beginning to help us feel welcomed. we’re meeting up with a family that has identical twin girls that will also be entering kindergarten with camryn and what looks to be an amazing local park.
wet + wild wednesday : water cannons. on a trip to target last week, i caved when we walked by the dollar spot and let the girls pick out these crazy water cannons. they’re easier that the typical squirt gun as you put the end into a source of water and then draw the water into it so they can easily do it by themselves. they had a great time soaking their papi when he was here, so i’m sure they’ll love it when i pull them back out this week.
thinking thursday : library. we had to take our books back on friday but we didn’t have time to go in to get more books, so we’ll make another trip this week.
fresh + fun friday : fluffy stuff. i don’t plan on having a snowball fight with the mixture as the author did, but rather will mix it up and let the girls have fun creating with it outside. with as much fun as they have “cooking” in their sand table, this should be fun!
from last week’s super summer schedule :
cereal bracelets. the perfect post-nap activity + snack all in one! my poor deprived children had never had fruit loops before so they were in heaven with the sugary cereal. they both made three bracelets while the youngest one watched and had some for a snack as well.
fireworks in a dish. this one got the girls’ vote for favorite activity last week. we actually did this one when andy was home and he also deemed it cool. be warned that your kids won’t want to do it just once! i think we did it three times before i had to say we weren’t going to do any more as andy was in the process of installing a new kitchen faucet so i didn’t have water available to clean the plates we were using for another round. (pardon the crazy hair photos. we obviously placed more importance on an activity after breakfast rather than finishing getting ready for the day.)
